Connecticut Department of Public Health, A High Performance Organization

From Region I New England Public Health Training Center

This 45-minute tutorial is designed to support health department staff in laying the foundation for performance improvement as part of a performance-based organization. With the CT DPH as the focus, the tutorial offers an overview of a local health department’s initiatives to improve the quality of its work and manage its performance. Tutorial topics include the role of accreditation, performance dashboards, and the use of the CT DPH’s QI Toolkit.

After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • Recognize how performance management and quality improvement are a part of a health department’s work.
  • Describe the purpose of a Performance Dashboard.
  • Recall where you can find more information and resources on performance management and quality improvement.

Review and Ratings of Selected Online Courses for Public Health Professionals

From Region IX Western Region Public Health Training Center

Region IX Western Region Public Health Training Center continually reviews and rates select online courses for public health professionals. The training center reviews TRAIN courses to weed out duplicates and surface courses that appear particularly beneficial to the health departments in the region. The WRPHTC adapted the Quality Matters form from the University of Arizona’s Office of Instruction and Assessment to develop a guide that lists high-scoring, recommended courses.
