NNPHI hosts a diverse array of conference participants to explore fresh concepts and strategies for supporting health communities at the local, state, and federal levels.
Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT)
PHIT is held in partnership with NNPHI, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Center for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support. The PHIT experience gives attendees the tools to strengthen skills in partnership building, accreditation, strategic planning, workforce development, and more.
In 2021, the National Network of Public Health Institutes launched the Open Forum: Next Generation in efforts to ensure that practitioners have the tools, resources, and support necessary to respond to current and future public health needs. Through rich content and meeting design, NxGen aims to not only continue upholding the Open Forum’s legacy but establish a culture of knowledge-sharing and capacity-building.

PHIG Hub Convenings
NNPHI is one of three national organizations tasked with leading and coordinating technical assistance for health departments who received funding through the CDC’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). NNPHI and each of the nine PHIG Regional Innovation Hubs consist of one or more public health institutes that work with state, local, territorial, and tribal health departments to analyze and operationalize essential public health functions in their regions – hosting in-person events called “Regional Hub Convenings” in different cities across the United States. During these convenings, PHIG recipients receive hands-on technical assistance, build relationships with their counterparts in neighboring states or areas, share findings and lessons learned, and strengthen ongoing partnerships
NNPHI’s hybrid convenings offer a combination of in-person and virtual elements so your event can reach a wider audience while working within your budget.
NNPHI offers engaging and interactive webinars for your online participants. NNPHI can assist in creation, planning, and hosting.
Covid Health Equity
This convening brings together grant recipients who are a part of the National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk and Underserved, Including Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations and Rural Communities to share experiences and learn new skills. NNPHI assist in planning and organizing peer-sharing sessions, workshops, and small group discussions.
Open Forum: Next Generation (NxGen) is a hybrid event, allowing our audience to participate virtually, in lieu of attending in-person. Participants are still privy to the NxGen experience and have access to plenaries, selected workshops and sessions, and the convening’s app that allows participants to share ideas and network with each other.
Community of Practice
The National Network of Public Health Institutes’ Communities of Practices are an outlet where peers who share a collective concern, interest, or passion for various topics are able to share best practices, ideas, insight and expertise, lessons learned and tips for navigating complex issues while uplifting and supporting the advancement of individual and collective goals. Through our CoP’s we strive to create a haven for all to learn and grow professionally while addressing current needs and preparing for the future of public health.
