Region I New England Public Health Training Center

Mission Statement

The New England Public Health Training Center delivers a wide range of training programs and services that strengthen the public health workforce, particularly for New England’s medically underserved communities and populations. They work with partners to move the field to Public Health 3.0.

Vision and Impact

In the last grant year (2019-2020), NEPHTC provided or supported over 44,000 instances of training to the public health workforce across New England and the country, through hundreds of online enduring courses, webinars, workshops and coaching for public health teams. NEPTHC is a learning leader by acting as a strategic partner for our public health partners. Achievements in the past grant cycle include: nimble and innovative support of partners for rapid development during COVID, integration of multi-modality learning on core strategic skills in public health in Systems Thinking and Communications, and selection of Storytelling training for broadcast on the CDC Learning Connection, and selection of enduring trainings for use by public health organizations and initiatives across the country. In thought leadership, NEPTHC has invested significant resources in co-authoring, disseminating and testing the Public Health Learning Agenda Toolkit, which facilitates deeper, more robust stages of learning that can increasingly impact systems change, with peers at five public health universities across the country. Enrollees in our trainings or programs include: Employees of local and state health departments; Nurses, with emphasis on School Nurses; Community Health Workers; Employees in Federally Qualified Health Centers; Health Educators; Environmental Health Professionals; Social Workers and Substance Abuse Counselors; other health professionals.
