On Monday, March 27, 2017 2:00 p.m. CDT, Public Health Nurse Deborah Giedosh, EdD from Alaska Department of Health and Social Services will share how her team developed and delivered public health curriculum to support incarcerated dads and their reentry from the Goose Creek Correctional Center. Giedosh will explain the origins of the “Healthy Dads, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities Program,” review the topics covered and classroom conversations her team experienced, and share lessons learned about implementing a health outreach program inside a correctional facility.

Wellness, Recovery and Resiliency: From Mental Health to Whole Health

Join speakers Margaret Walkover and Daniel Lev for a training on mental health and wellness. The presentation will examine the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study and how its findings have influenced mental health strategies and interventions and review evidence-based interventions to support emotional and physical wellbeing and resiliency. Ms. Walkover is active in the Hawaii Public Health Association and the American Public Health Association where she is Chair of its Mental Health Section. Daniel Lev, PhD directs the Kailua Comfort Clinic and is an adjunct faculty member at Argosy University in Honolulu.

On April 3, 2017 at 9am – 3 p.m. ET, this in-person training will focus on key concepts and strategies for continuous quality improvement in public health agencies.
