NNPHI is committed to nurturing partnerships, connections, and communities of practice that improve population health. With access to a network of over 8,000 subject matter experts, our Convenings Team offers comprehensive support designed for professionals and partner organizations to ensure meetings meet NNPHI’s gold standard for thoughtful convening programming and content that makes an impact.

NNPHI’s Convenings Team offers agenda and content development to meet your goals and engage attendees, site selection and management through a vast network of more than 250,000 venues worldwide, and pre-planning logistics and on-site support to ensure your meetings are seamless and successful.

Annual Convenings

NNPHI Annual Conference
Since 2001, the NNPHI Annual Conference is the only national meeting that supports and highlights the work of the nation’s public health institutes. NNPHI hosts a diverse array of conference participants to explore fresh concepts and strategies for supporting health communities at the local, state, and federal levels.

Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT) *Concluded in 2024*
Prior to programmatic supporting concluding, PHIT was held in partnership with NNPHI, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Center for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support. The PHIT experience gave attendees the tools to strengthen skills in partnership building, accreditation, strategic planning, workforce development, and more.

Open Forum
In 2021, the National Network of Public Health Institutes launched the Open Forum: Next Generation in efforts to ensure that practitioners have the tools, resources, and support necessary to respond to current and future public health needs. Through rich content and meeting design, NxGen aims to not only continue upholding the Open Forum’s legacy but establish a culture of knowledge-sharing and capacity-building.

The National Conference on Tobacco or Health
The National Conference on Tobacco or Health (NCTOH) is one of the largest, long-standing gatherings for top United States tobacco control professionals. NNPHI works with a diverse group of individuals from different sectors of public health to develop engaging content and create a valuable experience for attendees.

The Bristol Meyer Squibb Foundation (BMSF)
The Bristol Meyer Squibb Foundation (BMSF) hosts their annual Grantee Summit in partnership with NNPHI. This private event allows attendees to share challenges and innovative solutions in cancer, cardiovascular, immunologic care delivery for medically underserved populations. The BMSF Grantee Summit features collaboration, professional development, capacity building, and conversations with national experts on health equity and healthcare system change.

PHHS
The Preventive Health & Health Services (PHHS) Block Grant Recipients Meeting provides opportunities for 61 grantees to further connect with the CDC-STLT Public Health Infrastructure & Workforce staff, learn about administrative matters and program management, share strategies, receive training, and address other needs as identified by grantees, project officers and CDC.

PHIG Hub Convenings
NNPHI is one of three national organizations tasked with leading and coordinating technical assistance for health departments who received funding through the CDC’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). NNPHI and each of the nine PHIG Regional Innovation Hubs consist of one or more public health institutes that work with state, local, territorial, and tribal health departments to analyze and operationalize essential public health functions in their regions – hosting in-person events called “Regional Hub Convenings” in different cities across the United States. During these convenings, PHIG recipients receive hands-on technical assistance, build relationships with their counterparts in neighboring states or areas, share findings and lessons learned, and strengthen ongoing partnerships

Covid Health Equity
This convening brings together grant recipients who are a part of the National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk and Underserved, Including Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations and Rural Communities to share experiences and learn new skills. NNPHI assist in planning and organizing peer-sharing sessions, workshops, and small group discussions.

Virtual Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT) *Concluded in 2024*
In addition to the Public Health Improvement Training’s in-person programs, PHIT featured virtual training workshops, networking opportunities, and town hall sessions.

Open Forum
Open Forum: Next Generation (NxGen) is a hybrid event, allowing our audience to participate virtually, in lieu of attending in-person. Participants are still privy to the NxGen experience and have access to plenaries, selected workshops and sessions, and the convening’s app that allows participants to share ideas and network with each other.

Peer-Powered Progress
The National Network of Public Health Institutes’ Communities of Practices are an outlet where peers who share a collective concern, interest, or passion for various topics are able to share best practices, ideas, insight and expertise, lessons learned and tips for navigating complex issues while uplifting and supporting the advancement of individual and collective goals. Through our CoP’s we strive to create a haven for all to learn and grow professionally while addressing current needs and preparing for the future of public health.

Bringing people together is what we do – facilitating and supporting people, organizations, and communities to advance common goals and improve population health is part of our organizational DNA. Last year (2022) NNPHI partnered with six funding partners, five Advisory and Planning Councils and over 50 partners to convene 6,000 public health professionals through 10 virtual meetings, 40 webinars and 12 in-person conferences.
