New Virtual Training: Vector Control for Environmental Health Professionals (VCEHP)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NNPHI, the Texas Health Institute, Region VI Public Health Training Center, and other partners have jointly developed a set of virtual training courses titled, “Vector Control for Environmental Health Professionals (VCEHP)”.

VCEHP is a free, online curriculum available to all environmental health professionals and public health practitioners interested in understanding the tools and techniques available to address public health pests and vectors that spread pathogens. The training includes 11 online courses from world-renowned pest experts, tools, and resources that emphasize the use and application of integrated pest management (IPM) to address public health pests and vectors that spread diseases. Participants also have the opportunity to earn continuing education units (CEUs) upon completion of the courses and final evaluation. The training emphasizes integrated pest management (IPM) as an effective tool in combating such public health concerns as Zika virus and other vector-borne disease. Professionals who would benefit from this online course include environmental health professionals who work at health departments and in the community on vector control.

VCEHP was produced by the National Network of Public Health Institutes and Texas Health Institute through Cooperative Agreement CDC-RFA-OT13-1302 with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC – 5U38OT000203).
