Vincent Lafronza, EdD, MS, serves as president and chief executive officer of the National Network of Public Health Institutes, where he provides visionary leadership on national initiatives and cultivates partnerships with NNPHI’s member institutes and multisector collaborators across the country. Guided by a deep commitment to improving health through innovation, NNPHI strengthens the capacity of public health institutes, the broader public health system, and works to achieve better health outcomes for all.

Lafronza brings more than three decades of experience in gerontology, behavioral health, community-based environmental health interventions, and public health systems development across communities, states, and American Indian/Alaska Native nations. Since beginning his career in health and human services in 1985, he has held influential roles in government, nonprofit, and academic settings—advancing population health at the community, state, national, and tribal levels.

Before joining NNPHI, Lafronza co-founded two nonprofit organizations—CommonHealth ACTION and the Institute for Public Health Innovation, a regional institute serving Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. His career also includes experience at the National Association for County and City Health Officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry in Atlanta, Georgia.

Lafronza earned a doctorate in adult education, a master’s degree in science, and a certificate in gerontology. He also completed an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Engineering Postgraduate Research Fellowship in Public Health and participated in two Salzburg Fellowships focused on the social and economic determinants of health. He is an active member of the American Public Health Association and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice.
