John Rose, PhD, MA, is an Evaluation Scientist at the National Network of Public Health Institutes with the Evaluation and Impact team. John provides evaluation expertise and services in support of a broad array of projects for NNPHI and its member institutes.
John has over 15 years of experience conducting and advising applied research and evaluation projects for a variety of Federal agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), and the U.S. Army.
John’s varied areas of expertise include health behavior and health promotion, cancer and chronic disease prevention and control, and the improvement of public health and healthcare services through the evaluation, dissemination, and implementation of evidence-based practices. John has expertise in applied public health research and evaluation methods, including qualitative and quantitative approaches, and the design of experimental, observational, and mixed-methods studies.
John earned his PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, a Master of Arts in Anthropology at the American University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
