The Language Navigator website was created to establish a unified language framework to ensure appropriate and mindful language use. The site is a useful tool for health departments in developing internal and external communications. The site provides four areas of assistance. 1) Language, which includes words to avoid, words to use, reasoning, and source information. 2) Glossary, which includes word definitions and source information. 3) Acronyms, which includes definitions of abbreviates and source information. 4) Resources, which includes links to additional language-related information. An important component of the site is the option for users to request suggestions of content additions, edits, and deletions to ensure the information provided continuously evolves and accurately represents and adapts to diverse identities and cultures. The Language Navigator can be accessed through the Covid 19 Health Equity Technical Assistance Resource Catalog.
