Jonathan French

Senior Director for Public Policy and Content Development, HIMSS

As senior director for public policy and content development at HIMSS, Jonathan French serves as the HIMSS subject matter expert lead on regulatory policy associated with artificial intelligence, health IT certification, and clinical quality reporting programs and the impact of public policy on clinical care quality. French is recognized as a global subject matter expert on model practices for leveraging technology to drive improvements in healthcare outcomes, covering topics including risk stratification, clinical decision support, clinical analytics, digital health, and clinical quality measurement, serving on the Battelle Partnership for Quality Measurement Pre-Rulemaking Measure Review Advisory Group. Currently, French is HIMSS lead subject matter expert on public policy impacting the development and deployment of artificial intelligence and machine learning in healthcare settings.

Since 2012, French has also directed the HIMSS Davies Award program. Since 1994, the prestigious Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence recognizes the thoughtful application of information and technology to improve health care delivery processes and patient outcomes. Under French’s leadership, the Davies Award program has highlighted over 50 exemplary organizations and generated over 100 evidence-based case studies that serve as replicable model practices for using IT to enable quality improvement.

French is a lifelong resident of Virginia and a graduate of Emory & Henry College. French has been recognized as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMSS) credential since 2018.
