Colorado Health Institute

The Colorado Health Institute is a nonprofit, mission-driven research and consulting group advancing equity and well-being in our communities through deep expertise and implementational know-how. We simplify the complex, provide context, and advance policies that make a difference.

We carry out our work in two ways.

  • We provide consulting services to organizations that share our mission of improving health for all. See a partial list of our clients, and read about our services and expertise.
  • We focus on three areas of work that we believe are key to making Colorado a healthier place to live — climate and health, behavioral health, and integrating systems of care. This work, called our Health Agenda, is funded by philanthropic support.

We improve the health of all Coloradans through independent research, analysis, and insight that advance sound policies and decisions.

Vision and Impact

CHI was founded in 2002 to fill a need for nonpartisan, independent data and evidence-based analysis to support decision-makers. We are a trusted and independent source for strategic planning, facilitation, complex modeling, evaluation, and strategic communication. Our Colorado Health Access Survey has provided the state’s best data on use of health care since 2009. Our work leads to sound health policy decisions that improve the health of all Coloradans
