Health Policy Institute of Ohio Analyzes Medical Debt

According to the Institute, 1 in 5 Ohioans have difficulties paying off a medical bill in the last year, compounding affordability issues in the U.S.

The Health Policy Institute of Ohio, an NNPHI member public health institute, was featured in a Cleveland-area news report about the impact of medical debt on Ohioans. The Institute’s Brian O’Rourke said 1 in 5 Ohioans have difficulties paying off medical bills.

“Families who find themselves with, you know, a medical bill that they can’t pay it really does intersect with all of the other affordability pressures that people are facing in the state, whether that be housing, food, you know, childcare, gas,” said O’Rourke.
