Public Health Policy and Strategy Innovation Hub

The Public Health Policy and Strategy Innovation Hub was a pilot national training and workforce development effort aimed at building the capacity and core competencies of the public health workforce in the United States to achieve Public Health 3.0. This exciting initiative was the outcome of a collaborative partnership between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Office of Policy, Performance, and Evaluation, the National Network of Public Health Institutes, the Georgia Health Policy Center, and University of Houston Foresight Program.

The Innovation Hub supported a cohort of 30 public health practitioners and emerging leaders through a series of trainings between January 2023 and July 2023. The central focus was to equip participants with the skills needed for strategic policy and decision-making, adaptive leadership, and designing innovative solutions to address pressing and future public health challenges.

Participants engaged in capstone projects that were tied to ongoing or forthcoming initiatives affecting their communities, guided by technical assistance and coaching. A special emphasis was placed on fostering collaboration with sectors such as healthcare, housing, and transportation, aligning with the evolving landscape of public health.
