As the Director of the National Coordinating Center for Public Health Training (NCCPHT), Montrece leads national efforts to strengthen and sustain the public health workforce through training, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives. In this role, she oversees cross-sector collaborations, support training centers across the U.S., and provide strategic direction on public health workforce development—particularly as the nation navigates complex challenges facing the field today.
Before joining NNPHI, Ransom spent nearly 20 years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she was appointed as a Presidential Management Fellow. Over the last decade of my tenure, she led CDC’s public health law-related training and workforce development initiatives, translating complex legal concepts into practical tools and training programs for public health professionals nationwide. Her areas of expertise include public health law, leadership development, workforce strategy, and health equity. She has also worked extensively with public health institutes, training centers and other agencies to develop training programs, build leadership capacity, and coach emerging professionals.
Ransom holds a JD from the University of Alabama, an MPH from Emory University, and an executive leadership coaching certification from Georgetown. She is passionate about helping public health professionals thrive—through skill-building, mentorship, and cultivating a deep sense of belonging in the workforce.
