Loren Milliken, MSW, MPH, is public health analyst with the Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness team at the National Network of Public Health Institutes. In this role, Loren leads publications and products for performance improvement, workforce development, accessibility, and data modernization, amongst many other public health topic areas.
Their interest in public health started as a social work graduate student at the University of Georgia. Here, they learned about social work principles such as rapport building, community engagement, and social justice, all concepts instrumental in approaching public health concerns. While pursuing a secondary master’s in public health with a concentration in epidemiology, they worked as COVID-19 epidemiology surge staff at the Georgia State Department of Public Health.
