Anna Guryan

Program Associate

Anna Guryan is a program associate with the National Coordinating Center for Public Health Training (NCCPHT) at the National Network of Public Health Institutes. In this role, she supports the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) team by providing comprehensive administrative, logistical, and operational assistance. Anna plays a central role in managing relationships with multiple external contractors including project management, organizing and facilitating large-scale meetings, supporting reporting and documentation processes, and ensuring the coordination of technical assistance efforts. Her ability to manage multiple moving parts while supporting cross-functional teams is key to meeting PHIG deliverables and advancing national public health infrastructure goals.

Anna earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Clemson University, where her studies introduced her to the social determinants of health and inspired her to pursue a career in public service. Following graduation, she joined New Horizon Family Health Services as a primary care HIV prevention and PrEP outreach specialist, where she engaged community partners, conducted trauma-informed educational outreach, and improved access to HIV prevention services. Her experience in direct community engagement laid a strong foundation for her transition into more systems-focused roles.

During her time as a diversity, equity, and inclusion specialist at the South Carolina Department of Public Health (formerly the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control), Anna led regional efforts to create more inclusive and responsive public health programs. She collaborated with colleagues across departments and communities to design action plans, facilitated training, and supported initiatives that improved service delivery for a wide range of populations. Through this work, Anna saw firsthand how organizational practices and policies can either reinforce or remove barriers to care. These experiences deepened her interest in driving change at a systems level, where coordinated strategies and structural improvements have the potential to create broader, longer-lasting impact.

NNPHI’s mission resonates deeply with Anna’s commitment to building collaborative and resilient systems that serve all communities. Through her work on the PHIG team, she brings a focus on relationship-building, project management, and continuous improvement to advance public health capacity nationwide. Outside of work, Anna enjoys reading fantasy and sci-fi books, playing Dungeons and Dragons, staying active at the gym, and spending time with her loved ones.
