America is entering a new era of public health. As the nation’s federal public health infrastructure is reduced, the impact of public health at the local level is growing. The National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) is uniquely suited as a national partner to strengthen health systems and the workforce locally, statewide and nationally.
NNPHI’s 50 public health institutes (PHIs) are answering the nation’s most important public health challenges in local and statewide contexts. Our PHIs create innovative solutions to local public health problems and succeed at bringing models to scale, free of limitations that can hinder governmental and academic public health.
While our PHIs tailor their efforts to meet local needs, NNPHI coordinates all PHI efforts to bring national direction to public health interventions. NNPHI’s role fosters significant cost-savings:
- NNPHI provides an efficient alternative to contracting with many small entities across local contexts.
- NNPHI delivers technical assistance to PHIs to get projects up and running quickly and efficiently.
- NNPHI assists PHIs with implementing best practices learned from other PHIs, ensuring time and money are not wasted trying to solve the same problems in different localities.
- NNPHI’s hub-and-spoke model fosters regional collaboration among PHIs.
