Fund for Public Health NYC

Improving the health of all New Yorkers

The Fund for Public Health NYC mobilizes support for public health innovation and serves as a catalyst to develop, launch, and scale programs and partnerships that advance the priorities of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Maternal home collaborative

Designed to address the root cause of Black maternal health inequities, this pilot project will reinvest in three under-resourced priority neighborhoods and center Black women and birthing people and their infants in all actions and interventions. Through community-based clinical care, brick-and-mortar community spaces, and social supports (peer-to-peer groups, counseling, home visits), the Collaborative will help pregnant New Yorkers and their families not only survive but also thrive.

Our mission is to incubate innovative public health initiatives that lead to improved health for all New Yorkers.

Mobilize

We mobilize the philanthropic community and facilitate partnerships between the public and private sectors to develop, test, and launch new projects.

Innovate

We incubate innovative public health programs in partnership with the NYC Health Department to advance health across the city.

Collaborate

We collaborate with our partners to expand pilot projects, support agile implementation, and report on success. With strategic collaboration, we can reduce inequity and achieve better health outcomes for everyone.

Our unique model connects experts at the NYC Health Department with private sector and philanthropic partners to pilot innovative initiatives that would otherwise not be possible. These collaborations test out new ideas that, when successful, can be scaled and replicated across the city and around the country.

All of this is done to achieve our vision of a city where all New Yorkers share equitably in a culture of healthy living and enjoy optimal health. Thanks to our donors, we have raised more than $500 million to support over 440 projects since our founding in 2002. FPHNYC supports projects across all areas of public health, with a special focus on supporting healthy mothers and babies and fighting epidemics.
