Arkansas Center for Health Improvement

Inspiring Healthy Acts

For more than a quarter of a century, the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (ACHI) has been a leader in the Arkansas health landscape. As a nonpartisan, independent health policy center, our mission is to serve as a catalyst for improving the health of all Arkansans through evidence-based research, public issue advocacy, and collaborative program development. To establish a clear direction toward a healthier future, we convert data into knowledge and insight to inform healthy choices and policies.

As the premier health policy center in Arkansas, ACHI is at the forefront of health data management and analysis, having hosted the Arkansas Health Data Initiative since 2003 and the Arkansas Healthcare Transparency Initiative, which supports the Arkansas All-Payer Claims Database (APCD), since 2015. We have built upon these invaluable tools by integrating additional public and private data sources, enabling the robust research and transparency needed to provide actionable information and insight to policymakers, clinical leaders, researchers, and the public.

ACHI is also changing how communities address health improvement. We harness data and research to help identify, develop, and support policies that improve the health of Arkansans. Our team works closely with partners and stakeholders, often serving as a convener to support a broad array of policy initiatives that seek to improve population health, healthcare coverage, access to care, healthcare quality and payment improvement, and other emerging issues.

Over the past three decades, ACHI has emerged as a nationally recognized health policy organization that has benefited Arkansas and has become a model for other states across the nation. Our work includes rigorous, evidence-based research that uniquely contributes to the local and national understanding of individual health and our healthcare system’s performance. From statewide obesity research to evaluation of coverage in the state’s Medicaid expansion program, our findings spotlight Arkansas’s opportunities and challenges while informing national efforts to improve health.
