Region IV Public Health Training Center

Mission Statement

The mission of the Region IV Public Health Training Center (R-IV PHTC) is to strengthen competence of the current and future public health workforce in HHS Region IV, introduce public health and health profession students to the value of working in local communities and medically underserved areas, develop a learning community within the R-IV PHTC and its partners, support a culture of learning within agencies, and contribute to the work of the national PHTC program.

Vision and Impact

R-IV PHTC offers training and continuing education for public health practitioners across the region, provides opportunities for public health students to work in underserved areas, and advocates for public health systems and policies.

Public Health Training Center Webinar Presentation: The Zika Virus: What It Is and How to Protect Against It

Cherie Drenzek, DVM, MS, State Epidemiologist, Georgia Department of Public Health provided an overview of the Zika Virus and its spread, including, what it is, how it is transmitted, and who it affects. Dr. Drenzek discussed how to protect against Zika and how health departments can prepare to recognize, manage and report Zika infections and communicate prevention measures to the public.
