Colorado Survey Notes Insurance Marketplace Concerns

Coloradans are facing steep premium increases on top of existing dissatisfaction with the individual market.

With enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies expiring at the end of 2025, nearly 100,000 middle-income Coloradans now face steep health insurance premium increases. The 2025 Colorado Health Access Survey, led by the Colorado Health Institute, an NNPHI member, reveals they were already struggling. Individual market enrollees report lower satisfaction with health care, higher cost barriers, and more coverage instability than those with employer or public insurance. One in four experienced insurance disruption in the past year, and many continue to face challenges finding providers who accept their coverage. As Congress debates the future of these subsidies, the stakes are especially high for enrollees over age 50, who face the most expensive coverage.
