The Public Health Leadership Society (PHLS) is an alumni association comprised of graduates of national, state, and regional public health leadership institutes and development programs. Members engage in opportunities to continue their leadership development and to collaborate on public health issues that impact the nation.
Housed at the NNPHI since 2001, PHLS has become a national resource for public health leadership development, leadership consultation, and development of the next generation of public health leaders. It is a unique forum that supports public health professionals' life-long learning and serves as a sounding board to promote new and exciting linkages between public health, other sector stakeholders, and the community that strengthens and leads public health into the future.
PHLS was created in 1993 by graduates of the National Public Health Leadership Institute in direct response to their expectation for continuing leadership education and peer consultation. PHLS provides an opportunity for alumni to continue their learning experiences and leadership development, maintain professional and personal relations, and advance the causes of public health.
Members of PHLS represent a cross-section of public health leaders who are taking leadership on national, state, and local levels to promote new and exciting linkages between public health, other sector stakeholders, and the community.
Since 1993, PHLS has served as a community of practice for public health leaders from public and private sectors to support continued leadership and professional development. PHLS is more than an alumni organization; it is a community of leaders dedicated to leading public health into the future and promoting healthy people and healthy communities.
