Health Professions Workforce Program Manager
The Health Professions Workforce Program Manager will be at the rank of senior policy research analyst and will be responsible for the design and conduct of health professions workforce studies involving qualitative and quantitative research methods. This individual will work closely with the President and CEO and Director of Health Information and under the supervision of the Director of Policy and Research on workforce policy issues of importance to Colorado decision-makers. The Health Professions Workforce Program Manager will establish and maintain excellent working relationships with Colorado’s Health Professions Workforce Collaborative, professional associations, health professions’ educational programs, state workforce agencies and other public and private stakeholders as needed. S/he will be a resourceful and creative self-starter who works optimally in a team environment. The successful candidate, working with the Director of Policy and Research, will shape and execute strategies aimed at helping CHI achieves its mission of objective, evidence-based policy analysis and research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent CHI in research and analytical projects related to the health care workforce, including the development of a virtual Center for the Study of Colorado’s Health Professions, in collaboration with educational institutions and Colorado’s health foundations.
- Develop appropriate responses to emerging workforce policy issues by providing expert data analyses, syntheses, forecasting models and data interpretation.
- Work closely with the Director of Policy and Research and CHI’s workforce team in the design and implementation of workforce projects.
- Produce succinct, reader-friendly briefs, summaries and reports of workforce-related research that are accessible to a variety of audiences.
- Serve in a leadership capacity at CHI by expanding the expertise and institutional capacity of staff in health professions workforce policy studies.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Seven-plus (7+) years of professional experience in a health policy or health services research environment with demonstrated competencies in:
- Conducting health professions workforce studies;
- Conducting quantitative research methods;
- Developing theoretical and practical models that utilize both quantitative and qualitative research methods;
- Working collaboratively with researchers, public officials and other health professions’ workforce stakeholders;
- Producing policy relevant reports and studies;
- Self-motivation, self-direction and intellectual curiosity;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking and presentations.
EDUCATION
A master’s degree in health policy, public health, health services research or other relevant discipline is highly desirable.
